Fall Florals

Print has been trending for quite some time now,
and especially this past spring we saw a lot of large florals!
(Above looks are from Ted Baker)
Now, you took a risk and embraced this trend!
Maybe you invested in a piece, or two,
and you want to be able to wear these pieces in the fall and winter!
Here are a few tips for how to transition these pieces into a cooler weather wardrobe:
1. Add a chunky knit. Layer a wool sweater or a vest (like you see in my look) over your pieces to give that cozy fall look the floral freshness!  You can accent the look with your make up (A great rose colored lip is hot this fall!) or pull out your favorite color from the florals and wear jewelry that complements it! I chose to accent with the olive green color for my jewelry!  Olive green is a great neutral and wears well for any season!
2. Color block the look.  An easy solution is to add a solid colored blazer and tights/boots in a similar hue. If you don't already have these pieces in your wardrobe - I would highly suggest finding black tights, black boots and a black blazer! You could also choose another neutral to pair the look with to neutralize the busy pattern! (My solution was grey skinny jeans (j brand), a grey fur vest (Houndstooth MN) and grey booties (Blowfish).
3. Go with print with print, or at least multi-textured detailing!  You could find a pattern that would be a great complement - maybe stripes, polka dots or camoflague - and mix that in with the florals! You could easily add in very fall/winter jackets that have texture and details like a wool, leather, or a jacquard. Be careful to balance out the look with solid colors somewhere to offset the busy patterns!
