Real Style | Lakeside Look

Ahhh summer…otherwise known as cabin season. Preparing for a relaxing weekend at the lake with friends or family used to send me into a bit of a tizzy. How can you possibly ensure you’ll have everything you need for rain, shine, & the inevitable sunburn?
The mix of activities can range from water sports, to bonfires and everything in between.  You want to be low key, but look cute, therefore over packing is a given! One of my first weekends as a cabin owner I packed for the entire family & completely forgot to pack for myself… leaving me in just kelly green jammies for the entire weekend. NOT cute!
Since then my cabin style has evolved & in turn so has my packing. Here’s what I’ve learned:
I’ve tried them all.  Open in the front, flowy, see through, mesh, maxis, you name it. While these can be very fashionable while on the boat – they aren’t too functional for the rest of the weekend.  Requiring additional shorts, tanks, etc.  Instead try a cute short dress.  Morning fishing trip – no problem.  Time for the sun – whip it off. Starting to cool down – add a cardigan or duster.  Bugs out – throw on leggings. Easy Breezy. Find a cute one & besides your suit you’re almost done.
Any outfit can be dressed up or dressed down & has potential to be a "cute outfit" when accessorized appropriately. Lake weekends can be tricky because you don’t want to try too hard. However, these 3 essentials can pull your lake look together effortlessly:
1. Hats are key! Taming windblown or second day hair while rocking an accessory you don’t get to wear everyday, why wouldn’t you?  Whether its a baseball hat, cowboy hat, fedora – if you like it, bring it.

2. Sunglasses. Obviously (enough said).

3. Jewelry – an arm full of wrist candy, a simple ring & some blingy studs will still make you feel put together even though you don’t have makeup on & have been living in your swimsuit and flip flops all day.
